PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two 16-year-old boys were stabbed in Laurelhurst Park Saturday night after a disturbance with a group of juveniles.

Portland police said the stabbing happened on the north side of the park near SE Ankeny Street and Laurelhurst Place around 7:15 p.m.

The victims were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Jason Burnap was watching a tennis match when police and EMTs started arriving.

“A quick response from the fire department and ambulances,” Burnap said. “They were quick here and hopefully they narrowed down where they have this guy.”

Harry Herzberg, who lives across the street from where the stabbing happened, said he believes it’s an isolated incident.

“It’s not the area, it’s just more that these things happen,” Herzberg said. “It’s really mind boggling to see that happening in your neighborhood and we don’t want that going on anywhere in life.”

Officers talked to the group of juveniles, who said the suspect is white or Hispanic in his teens or early 20s. Anyone with information is asked to call 503.823.3333.
