OLYMPIA, Wash. - Two people were found dead after a house fire early Thursday north of Olympia, officials said.

Fire crews responded to the scene, a home in the 4300 block of Lemon Road NE, at about 1:20 a.m. after a man in a nearby house called 911 and said he heard explosions and saw his parents’ house on fire.

The two-story home was fully ablaze when firefighters arrived, so they were unable to go inside and check for occupants, said a South Bay Fire & Rescue spokesperson.

The son said he didn't know if his parents were home at the time of the fire. If they were, they didn't make it out in time.

By Thursday afternoon firefighters were able to go inside the gutted remains of the home to search for the parents, and that's when they found the body of the victim's inside.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, but police said no criminal activity is suspected.

According to investigators, the house is a total loss.
