OLYMPIA, Wash. - Three people were trapped and had to be rescued after a speeding car triggered a three-vehicle collision Thursday morning in Olympia.

Tumwater police and firefighters responded to the scene, at Crosby Boulevard SW and Mottman Road SW, at about 7:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a serious crash involving multiple vehicles.

Three people were found trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by firefighters. They were taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation found that a red car traveling at high speed plowed into a Capital Electric work truck, causing it to flip over and crash into a white SUV, officials said.

No information was immediately available about the causing driver. Tumwater police are continuing to investigate.
