Violent and random attacks, including one where a man was beaten while unconscious and another called a hate crime, are being prosecuted with six people behind bars.

Over the course of three days, between July 31 and Aug. 2, a half dozen assaults have been seen in SoDo, Pioneer Square, downtown Seattle and in Ballard.

According to charging documents from the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and reports from Seattle Police, they all appear to be unprovoked.

“He could barely talk and he said, ‘I didn’t do anything. I was almost at work and I got attacked like this’,” said Oksana Peters, speaking to KOMO News about her son, Moses Brundyy.

According to charging documents, Brundyy was walking to work in Ballard at around 7 a.m. Aug. 1 when he passed by another man, Solomon Prince.

At some point, a fight broke out and Brundyy was knocked out and had fallen to the ground. Witnesses tell detectives Prince continued to attack Brundyy while he was down, leaving him bleeding from his mouth, nose and ears. Brundyy was taken to the hospital and suffered a fractured nose and bruising all over his face.

Peters, who lives in Texas, couldn’t believe what she had heard and asked her son to send her a picture.

“And when he did, I just couldn’t stop crying,” said Peters. “I couldn’t believe that somebody could hurt somebody else like this for no reason whatsoever.”

According to a police report, Prince reported that Brundyy used a racial slur. He’s now in jail being held on $300,000 bail.

In Pioneer Square, three of the six assaults are alleged to have played out there.

At 3rd and Yesler, police say Clinton Mighell pointed what appeared to be a firearm at multiple people in a crowded street. It was eventually discovered to be a painted BB gun. He’s facing a charge of Assault in the 3rd Degree.

Not far away, at 3rd and James, Brittany Nicole Torres is accused of pushing a stranger to the ground at a bus stop and then using a rock ‘the size of a baseball’ to beat that person. She’s also facing a charge of Assault in the 3rd Degree.

Mauluga Matautia has been charged with Assault in the 3rd Degree and Assault in the 4th Degree after he allegedly assaulted people at random outside of an apartment building near 3rd and James. At one point, a police report claims he made his way inside and assaulted a staff member of that building.

In South Seattle, near 4th Ave S and Forest St, Sabrina Greges is charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree after she’s reported to have tried attacking a woman at an espresso stand with a pair of scissors. According to a police report, she told officers she ‘lost control’ of herself.

The sixth random attack happened near 5th and Pike at a hot dog stand.

Police said George Kiona approached multiple people at the business and began shouting racial slurs and threatened to kill them. One woman is said to have been punched in the jaw by Kiona during his tirade.

According to charging documents, his ‘primary motivation’ appeared to be a ‘perception of race.’ Kiona has been charged with two hate crimes and Assault in the 4th Degree.

KOMO News reached out to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office about the attacks. A spokesperson says they plan on pursuing each one of them to the fullest extent.

“We understand that people see these cases and wonder what’s happening with them,” said Casey McNerthney.

“We don’t want people to think that we get assault reports and we turn a blind eye to them. These are very serious cases. And even with the court closures and a pandemic, we’ll still make sure we get to court and address a judge.”

McNerthney tells KOMO News that in the last month, the KCPAO has filed 149 assault charges, including things like vehicular assault. Of those 149, 57 stemmed from Seattle.
