It's been a fairly pleasant spring so far with just a handful of days that would be considered uncomfortably warm, but that's about to change this week.

High pressure is taking command of the West Coast, and bringing a heat-inducing thermal trough up the western shores which will bring a decent -- if fairly short-lived -- boost in high temperatures.

The warming trend already began over the weekend and temperatures should reach the upper 70s on Monday.

By Tuesday, we should notch our 4th 80+ degree day of the year so far with highs in the low 80s.

It looks like temperatures will peak on Wednesday as the thermal trough parks right over the Puget Sound region, bringing in a dry, warm east wind that should push highs up into the upper 80s or low 90s. Seattle is looking at a high right around 89 or so, so the record high of 85 for the day (set in 1999) should be nervous.

But luckily, heat events rarely last long around here and this time is no different. The thermal trough should push east of the Cascades on Wednesday night allowing some cooling on Thursday back into the upper 70s to low 80s, with highs dropping more comfortably into the low-mid 70 on Friday.

Long range forecasts show a slight rebound into Father's Day weekend with highs settling into the upper 70s.

As for rain? Not on the board anytime soon...
