During a community Zoom meeting called "Virtual Friday Coffee" updates were announced for summer events and activities in Jefferson City.

Central Bank Public Relations Coordinator Angela Nale said the first night of Thursday Night Live will be on June 18 with other nights scheduled for July, August, and September.

Thursday Night Live will not take place in October because of low turnout in past years.

The Piccadilly event has been pushed back to October, because of a lack of sponsors for the event.

Penny Smith, the event organizer, said the popular Fourth of July event, Salute to America, will continue as planned.

However, she also said certain elements of the event, such as the carnival, are still under discussion as to whether they will be included in the event.

Smith also said there will be added precautions such as handwashing stations and social distancing requirements.

Phil Stiles, Jefferson City Parks Program Manager, announced updates with parks and sports.

Stiles said camps and sports are set to start up on June 1.

Playgrounds would open on May 29, and pools would open on June 5.

Stiles also said sporting tournaments are planned to go on as scheduled, however they would be making updates on a case by case basis.

Dianne Gillespie, Executive Director of the Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau, said they have been struggling with tourism since the flooding last year.

The Convention and Visitor's Bureau's new slogan on ads has been updated to "We'll be ready for you when you're ready to start exploring again."

She announced Missouri State Penitentiary Tours would start up on June 1 with extra precautions in place for guests.

Prison Break is scheduled for Aug. 29, and the Triathlon event is scheduled for Aug. 30 according to Gillespie.

Peddlers Jamboree is scheduled to take place on Labor Day Weekend, Sept. 5.

She also said they are scheduling bike events for the Katy Trail to bring visitors to the area.

Concert Inside The Walls has been scheduled for Sept. 12, and Smash Mouth is the featured band. Tickets for that concert are on sale.
