The annual Food 4 Kids program kicked off Monday with the help from area churches, businesses, and volunteers.

With a goal to provide nutritious lunches to any child under the age of 18 for free, volunteers met at the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson City to assemble the lunches.

Each week, a different volunteer group delivered the sack lunches to four different locations: Elston Acres Trailer Park, Collier Court in Westview Heights, Elizabeth Street near the corner of Edmonds, and East Elm between Chestnut and Linn.

The lunches were available every Monday through Friday except for July 4.

The Food Bank provided the food for Central and Northeast Missouri.

Partnering groups included: First Christian Church, Immaculate Conception, Wesley Methodist, Grace Episcopal, First Baptist, Second Baptist, First Presbyterian, Live into Hope Church, Memorial Baptist, Quinn Chapel AME, First United Methodist, Jefferson Bank, Ameren, City of Jefferson, Wipro, Scholastic, Capital Region Medical Center, JCMG, Central Bank, and JC Public Schools.
