The Red Cross of Central and Northern Missouri has also helped families with immediate needs, while CCNMO has long term assistance available.

Dan Lester is the Executive Director at CCNMO. He said while some may be hesitant, they encourage anyone affected to contact them.

"There's always some stigma for folks asking for help so maybe some folks who've had some damage and maybe had some water into their house and they feel like 'oh, it's not that bad or I know my neighbor down the street got it much worse than I did and I don't want to take away from them' we just encourage them to come forward so we can get them the help."

Dan said anyone needing help should call their office 573-635-7719 and they will be assigned a disaster case manager.
