JEFFERSON CITY — When the temperature drops below 35 degrees, the Salvation Army's Center of Hope Warming Shelter opens its doors to anyone in need of a warm place to sleep.
The shelter is open from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. During the day, the shelter also acts as a warming center for those who need a place to get warm and out of the cold.
Captain Justin Windell said Monday the shelter prepares for long stretches of cold, like recently seen, to be able to provide for those in need.
Those taking advantage of the warming shelter and center are also able to get meal through the Salvation Army’s community meals program that provides meals three times a day, seven days a week.
