A Jefferson City man is in custody following an incident Wednesday afternoon in which another suspect fired a gun from his car at another car in a neighborhood near Grays Creek.

According to court documents, 18-year-old Raeqwon Morris was driving a vehicle that was involved in a "disturbance and weapons offense" in the 200 block of Belair Drive. The passenger in Morris's vehicle allegedly got out of the car and fired a shot in the direction of the other car involved in the disturbance. An uninvolved victim's car was struck instead.

At this point, a Jefferson City Police Officer saw Morris fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed. Upon seeing the officer, Morris abruptly pulled over and the two suspects ran off on foot. Morris was apprehended; the other suspect remained at large.

In the course of the investigation, Morris told officers that he had driven the other suspect to the neighborhood to buy drugs from the occupants of the other vehicle.

Morris was charged with First-Degree Assault, Aiding and Abetting a Person Shooting from a Motor Vehicle, Property Damage, Armed Criminal Action, and Delivery of 35 grams or less of Marijuana.
