Arizona officials postpone Loop 101 closure in north Phoenix due to rain

PHOENIX — Transportation officials in Arizona announced Friday that they would postpone a planned closure of the Loop 101 in north Phoenix due to rain in the forecast this weekend.
The Arizona Department of Transportation initially planned to close the Loop 101 westbound will be closed between Seventh Street and Interstate 17 from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
The closure will be rescheduled on a future weekend, the department added. Several freeway ramps in the area were also supposed to be closed.
The closure was part of the Loop 101 improvement project, which will add a fourth lane in each direction along the 13-mile stretch between I-17 and Pima Road by 2021.

It rained about a quarter- to half-inch across most of the Valley on Thursday night, bringing in fog the next morning.
