PHOENIX — The legendary Willie Nelson will be coming to the Valley to perform two shows in two nights.

Willie Nelson & Family will be performing on May 20 and 21 at Celebrity Theatre in downtown Phoenix.

In recent years, Nelson has released more than a dozen new albums and appeared on the covers of Rolling Stone and AARP The Magazine.

In 2015, Nelson published “It’s A Long Story: My Life” an autobiography that ended up on the Top 10 New York Times’ bestsellers list.

He also released Django and Jimmie, the studio album with Merle Haggard that debuted as No. 1 on Billboard‘s Country album chart and No. 7 on Billboard‘s Top 200 album chart.

Later that year, Nelson became the first country artist to be awarded the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song by the Library of Congress.

Nelson began 2016 with Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin, a new 11 song album that topped that charts at No. 1 on both the Top Current Jazz chart and the Top Traditional Jazz chart. The album also earned him a Grammy Award for the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.

The following year, he released God’s Problem Child, a new 13-song album that debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country album chart and No. 10 on the Billboard 200.

Nelson released his most recent album, My Way, in September 2018. The newly recorded songs have a sound that was made famous by Nelson’s close friend and fellow music icon Frank Sinatra. The album won the Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Album.

Tickets go on sale on Feb. 22 at celebritytheatre.com.
