The old water tower in Sweetwater that was "visible for decades from I-20" has been demolished.

It came crashing down between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Fire Chief Grant Madden shot drone video of the great fall.

Madden said in his YouTube video's description that he is "new at operating the drone and as it fell [he] hit the wrong direction on the tilt switch, [the sudden camera movement in the video] was not from wind or me being afraid of it hitting the drone."

On their Facebook page, the Sweetwater Fire Department said they "sat for hours waiting for [the old tower] to fall."

According to fire department, the water tower was demolished due to its age and structural issues.

The demolition company is set to haul off and scrap the remains by the end of the week.

Madden told KTXS the new tower, which sits directly next to the demolished one, has "been up and in operation for a while now."
