3 orphaned cougar kittens rescued in Uinta Mountains

(KUTV) — Biologists have recently rescued three orphaned cougar kittens in the Uinta Mountains.

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources shared on Tuesday a video about the rescue.

According to the Utah DWR, a concerned citizen called to report finding the three baby cougars alone on the south slope of the Uintas. Expecting very cold temperatures in the area and the mother nowhere in sight, biologists picked up the kittens.

A DWR veterinarian transported the cougar kittens to Hogle Zoo, where zoo staff cared for them over the weekend.

Now, the baby cougars are heading to their new home: the Bronx Zoo.

"We're grateful to the concerned citizens and partners who made this rescue possible!" stated the Utah DWR on its video.
