Officials are investigating what caused a fire to spark at the new Amazon fulfillment center in Salt Lake City.

At approximately 3 a.m., a passerby on Interstate 80 reported the fire after seeing flames on the roof.

At least 30 firefighters responded to the scene just west of the Salt Lake City International Airport.

Capt. Darren Baum with the Salt Lake City Fire Department says when they first arrived, crews did spot flames that extended to a large part of the roof.

It took 20 minutes for them to extinguish the flames.

This $250 million fulfillment center is still under construction.

The fire may impact the opening day for the center, but it won't affect any current shipments.
