A suspicious package was found outside of the American Civil Liberties Union of Utah building in Salt Lake City, according to police.

The unmarked package was left by the door and people inside the building reported it to police Tuesday morning.

A bomb squad is at the scene. A man in a blast-proof suit is checking out the package, according to 2News Reporter Kyle Harvey at the scene.

The large police presence is forcing the temporary closure of a few roads and affecting traffic in the area.

The closures are in effect near 400 North and 300 West.

300 West is closed between 300 North and 500 North. Please are asking the public to avoid the area.

This is a developing story. 2News will update when more information is available.
