Driver suspected of hitting pedestrian in downtown Salt Lake City arrested

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Police and medical personnel were called to the scene of a crash in Salt Lake City, where a pedestrian was hit by a car on Wednesday afternoon.

The driver involved failed to remain at the scene, police told 2News. He was later tracked down and arrested on Wednesday night.

Salt Lake City police first announced the arrest on Twitter, but the tweet included the wrong name. A booking photo of the incorrectly identified individual has been removed from this story.

Salt Lake police identified another suspect, but it did not appear that person had been booked into jail. 2News will update this story once the identity of the suspect can be confirmed through court records.

2News first heard reports of the crash, in the area of 100 South Main Street, just before 4 p.m.
