SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) -- Salt Lake City residents might see military helicopters flying around downtown throughout Sunday, but they shouldn't have to worry - it's just training.

In preparation for an upcoming training event, the Utah National Guard will be landing two UH-60 Black Hawks and a UH-72 Lakota helicopter on the north and south helipads of the Wells Fargo Building in downtown Salt Lake City.

The training the helicopters are rehearsing for is Exercise Desert Ice, a multi-service and multinational training event designed to fortify the country's security against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats, according to a Sunday morning press release from the Utah National Guard.

The helicopters are scheduled to conduct multiple passes and landings between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to train for Desert Ice, which officially takes place on Apr. 10. The training event is contingent on weather conditions.

The Utah National Guard stated Desert Ice is scheduled in collaboration with foreign partners such as Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.
