The Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation (SLCPR) office released its plans on how and when it will reopen its facilities following state leaders moving parts of the county in the yellow, "low-risk" phase.

The plan was released on Friday and details how the county will reopen pools, golf courses, parks, and more; additionally, new modified operation procedures that are in compliance with current state health guidelines.

All parks and recreation amenities will be subject to social distancing guidelines and dependent on the local status in the State’s plan.

Starting on Monday, Salt Lake County plans to reopen the following, including the public bathrooms on the properties:

  • Playgrounds
  • Dog parks
  • Pickleball and tennis courts
  • Skate parks and open fields
  • Paths and trails.

These facilities will be open for cities outside of Salt Lake City, West Valley City, and Magna – who are still in the orange, "moderate-risk" phase. Other major openings in Salt Lake County include:

WHEELER FARM – Friday, May 22 – Open with social distancing requirements in place. The Sunday's Farmer's market will take place starting June 7.

PAVILIONS AND ATHLETIC FIELDS – Saturday, May 23 – Amenities will be open for reservations with open restrooms.

REC CENTERS – Monday, June 1 – Certain centers will be allowed to open on this date. It depends on which amenities are offered by the rec center and if these can comply with local health guidelines in June.

SWIMMING POOLS – Wednesday July 1 – The SLCPR considered this to be the target date to reopen county pools.

GOLF COURSES – Already open – All six County-opeerated golf courses are currently open. Pre-pay only.

Other facilities and organizations are still under consideration as to when they can reopen. This includes, splash pads, youth and adult sports programming, childcare, and summer camps.
