Woman shot and killed at Salt Lake City apartment complex

(KUTV) — A woman was murdered at an apartment complex in Salt Lake City on Saturday morning.

At approximately 7:41 a.m., Salt Lake City Police officers were dispatched to a residence near 1211 North Redwood Rd. on the report of a burglary in progress.

According to SLCPD Sgt. Brandon Shearer, the call then changed to shots fired while officers were en route.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman had been shot and she was transported by medical personnel to a local hospital. Shearer told 2News that she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Detectives are still investigating the homicide. The identity of the woman has not been revealed at this time.
