Scio motorcyclist dies in Tuesday crash west of Stayton

STAYTON, Ore. -- Linn County Sheriff's Office reports a crash involving a motorcycle and a car on Stayton-Scio Road near the intersection of Cole School Road west of Stayton took a man's life Tuesday night.

Police say 21-year-old Kevin Charles McFadden of Scio was eastbound on Stayton-Scio Road on his 2015 Yamaha V-Star motorcycle.

61-year old Cleo Lynn Matson of Stayton was westbound in her 2014 Subaru Outback and, as she turned into her driveway, collided with McFadden just before 10 p.m.

McFadden was transported to Santiam Memorial Hospital and then flown by Life Flight to Legacy Emanuel Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, the report said.

The investigation is continuing and no one has been charged at this time, authorities said.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Stayton Fire Department and Stayton Police Department.
