3 injured after jumping from home to escape fire in Trenton

TRENTON, Ohio (WKRC) - Three people were taken to the hospital after jumping out of their home in Trenton to escape a fire.

The blaze started around 3 a.m. at a home on East State Street near Gwen Lane.

Officials said one adult and two children had to jump out of the house. The children included a teenage girl and a young boy. The boy had to be flown to Dayton Children's Hospital, the girl and the man were taken by ambulance.

The man is in critical condition. He was initially taken to Atrium Medical Center but later had to be flown to Miami Hospital.

Firefighters were able to knock the flames down quickly.

They believe the fire started in the kitchen but the cause is still under investigation.

According to the chief, there were no working smoke detectors.

The family had just moved into the house over the weekend.
