CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A serious, two-alarm fire was reported at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday at the Delhi Palace Indian Cuisine.

The multi-unit building, located at 7133 Montgomery Rd. and Plainfield Rd., features a restaurant on the ground floor with several apartments above the business.

The fire was called in at 4:35 a.m. Residents smelled smoke and most evacuated before crews arrived.

As crews from Deer Park/Silverton Fire Department responded, additional crews from Sycamore Township, Reading, St. Bernard, Golf Manner, Montgomery, Loveland/Symmes and Blue Ash assisted.

Crews began to fight the fire from an interior hallway but it was so intense that they had to fight the fire from the outside for nearly an hour.

Severe weather didn't help. "Between the smoke and snow, crews could only see about 10 to 15 ft in front of them. Crews did a great job and they contained the fire the best they could but there is a lot of damage from water and smoke," said Denny Meador with the Deer Park/Silverton Fire Department.

Once they returned inside, they spent hours eliminating hot spots throughout the building.

No injuries have been reported but residents are now displaced. "We all got out safely...and now we're homeless. Everybody got out okay," said resident Dorothy Owens, a 16-year resident at the building.

The Red Cross is helping some of the people displaced by the fire.
