Harrisburg School District held a virtual Q&A Thursday to provide clarity to parents, students and faculty, regarding the start of the school year.

During the online event, the district’s Acting Superintendent Chris Celmer said staff will return to work on August 17.

Students will begin the school year with online learning on August 31.

The administration is taking a phased in approach, in which classes will start entirely online before gradually returning students to the classroom when it becomes safe.

"We would look at our youngest learners and prioritize our special education learners as our first cohorts to come back to in-person learnings in our buildings in the Harrisburg School District,” said Chris Celmer

The district will hold a virtual business meeting on Monday, August 10 to provide additional updates. Then they will unveil their health and safety plan for Fall 2020.
