The Executive Director for the Neighborhood Center UMC in Harrisburg just started in March, but he has actually been a staple in Harrisburg for years.

He calls himself just a kid from Harrisburg.

"This shirt is one of my favorite shirts. It says just a kid from Harrisburg. I saw someone with this shirt on a few years ago and I just had to have one. I love Harrisburg. I am born and raised here," said Gary Fallings.

He previously worked for the juvenile justice system and was also a teacher with Harrisburg School District. His journey with serving the community started far before that.

"I’ve been really just involved in community service since I was in high school at the age of 15, I started attending Hamilton Elementary School and there I would help the kids with their math and reading," said Fallings.

Fast forward to this year when Fallings found a perfect fit to give back to his community with the Neighborhood Center UMC in Harrisburg.

"We operate a childcare service. We also serve the elderly. Weekly, we transport food boxes to their homes. We have a caring closet which caters to young teen mothers who may be in need of diapers and clothing. We also have mentoring services with "Be a Man Inc." and "Ladies in Training," said Fallings.

Hw says his love for his city is what continues pushing to make Harrisburg better each and every day.

“I would do anything and everything just to see this city in a better state, so just a kid from Harrisburg it says it all..it means everything to me," said Fallings.
