Most Reverend Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, made a courtesy call on RN Ravi, the Governor of Nagaland on August 14 at Raj Bhavan, Kohima.

 

Kohima, August 14 (MExN): Most Reverend Dr James Thoppil, the Bishop of Kohima, made a courtesy call on RN Ravi, the Governor of Nagaland on August 14 at Raj Bhavan and assured him of the Church’s cooperation and prayers for his mission in Nagaland.


The bishop shared how the Catholic Church was working for the progress and development of the people of Nagaland, especially through its educational institutions and healing ministry spread in every nook and corner of the state.


He also said that in many of the Catholic Institutions, the prayer of St Francis of Assisi, has been prayed daily, for peace and reconciliation in Nagaland.


Dr Thoppil also hoped that the Church through its many educational institutions (1 univserity, 5 colleges, 27 Higher Secondary Schools and 60 secondary schools) will bring about attitudinal changes among the students for a better, peaceful and prosperous Nagaland.


The Governor appreciated the humanitarian works of the Catholic Church, not only in Nagaland, but also in the entire country for the progress and development, transformation and growth of the people, especially the poor and the marginalized.


The Bishop was accompanied by Reverend Fr Jacob Charalel, Chancellor cum Secretary of the Education Commission of the diocese. The bishop presented a picture of the healing miracle of Jesus, hoping that “Jesus, the divine healer will help him to bring about healing and reconciliation in Nagaland.”
