Dimapur achieves 100% placement for PMKVY’s first batch

Dimapur, January 22 (MExN): In a proud moment for Dimapur, the first batch of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) has achieved 100% placement. Students have the opportunity to work with world-class brands in India and overseas in the tourism, travel and hospitality sector. One candidate Asheli Yepthomi sharing her experience stated that “I got my placement in Spice jet Airlines as a Cabin Crew. I would like to convey my gratitude to the department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of Nagaland and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana which has given us an opportunity to grab our career.” Yepthomi also encouraged “youth of Nagaland those who are interested in hospitality and aviation sector to come forward and grab this opportunity and fulfil their dreams of becoming a successful person in life”.

With an objective to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training, the PMKVY scheme has successfully placed all 220 students (8 batches) from Dimapur, Nagaland. These candidates have found gainful employment under various job roles like F&B Service, Cabin Crews etc.. All the students have joined their respective organizations post completion of their training and assessments successfully. 

Providing gainful and sustainable employment for the youth continues to be an important priority for the government. This is needed for economies such as India, with a significantly high growth momentum. Policies related to skill development as well as lifelong learning are vital instruments to improve the employability and employment outcomes of the youth.

Caroline Himb, another PMKVY candidate said, “I got a placement as a Cabin Crew in Go Air Airlines which has always been my dream”. Another candidate Gifty Patton got a placement in Star Cruise Hong Kong.

The Skill India Mission received a huge boost as the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship’s (MSDE’s) flagship programme PMKVY successfully registered 10 lakh placements as on January 2019. In Nagaland alone more than 1500 candidates have been certified out of which more than 900 candidates have been placed, a press release from Hamad M A R Berlashker, CEO Tangent India informed.
