Dimapur, September 11 (MExN): The Dimapur police has made several arrests in connection to illegal collection of tax, extortion and other related cases.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur in a press release informed that Dimapur Police on September 3, apprehended one Temjenyanger Ao (23 yrs), a resident of Railway Bazar, Dimapur for illegal collection of tax and recovered an amount of Rs. 550 from his possession. In this connection, a case has been registered at Sub-Urban Police Station and investigation is on.
The following day, Dimapur Police Anti Extortion Team (AET), apprehended another person, Yevukhu Yepthomi (50 yrs), resident of Burma Camp, Dimapur for illegal collection of tax in the name of GPRN/NSCN from Truck drivers and recovered a cash of Rs. 1,200 from his possession. A case has been registered at East Police Station for further investigation, the PRO stated.
On the same day, Dimapur Police apprehended an extortionist identified as one Alfred Jamir (33 yrs), P/A Naga United Village Dimapur while illegally collecting money from shops at New Market area in the name of GPRN/NSCN. The police registered a case in this connection at West Police Station for further investigation.
Meanwhile on September 6, Dimapur Police apprehended three person namely–Thsepichem Langkithonger (38 yrs), Po/Ps- Kiphire; Lithangba Anar (31 yrs), PO/PS- Kiphire; Edward Yeptho (34 yrs), PO/PS Kiphire and recovered 200 numbers of SP capsules; 88 numbers of XL- Pam 0.5 tablets and one vehicle (Maruti Alto). In this connection, the PRO said that a case has been registered at Diphupar PS and investigation is going on.
In another case, the Dimapur Police Highway Patrol, on September 9, arrested three persons, Rokovoto, Seyiesato and Keveizoto all from Piphema village for trying to extort from the truck drivers plying in NH-29. In this connection, a case has been registered at Medziphema Police Station for further investigation.
The Dimapur Police Anti Extortion Team (AET) Zone - II party also apprehended one person namely Vikiqhe Sumi (45 yrs) of Wezhu New Village, PO/PS- Bhandari, Wokha P/A Lama Bosti Dimapur, while illegally collecting money from butcher shops at Sub-Jail Junction area in the name of GPRN/NSCN. A case has been registered at West Police Station for further investigation, the PRO added.
