February 14 witnessed a further convergence of entrepreneurs at Fusion store, Dimapur. Three aesthetic brands were officially launched here, today - Famous Letterpress, Li - Mheghi and Mohsina Khan.

Famous Letterpress studio, store and press based in Dimapur offers premium stationery products, illustrated letterpress to wedding invitations, business cards, frames and their own array of ‘Made in Nagaland’ products.
Using vintage printing machines, Sinlo Kemp, graphic designer said, “Our products are unique.” It is also the only letterpress in India where the printing unit and the design studio works together, catering to the needs of clients seeking tangible, aesthetic quality.

The machines are old vintage and original Heidelberg prints of more than 70 years old brought from Germany and Kolkata, Kemp said, explaining that the process is tedious and manual which make the products a little expensive.

Initially started in 2012, Famous Letterpress, a niche market, got its big break last summer, with its first launch at Aiko market Dimapur. Since then, the response has been largely positive with huge demands from the state as well as outside, for wedding cards, business cards and other stationeries. Kemp hoped that this partnership will usher in more visibility and support for local brands.

Li-Mheghi (Sümi word for ‘a girl’s treasure’) is a home based business run by Akali Swu who sells her embroidered products and also undertakes customized orders on embroidery pouches, hoop frames, tote bags and gift baskets mainly via Instagram. Li-Mheghi was started couple of years ago. Started out of curiosity, it became a hobby and evolved into a passion. Now it has become a little treasure trove.

Designer Mohsina Khan, an alumnus of Pearl Academy Fashion, Delhi while launching her collection in the market for the first time, said she chose to start her label here, from Dimapur, citing “I am from here.” Khan said her limited collection of traditional Indian party wears are specially designed for Nagaland market which are lightweight, soft and easy to wear, made of chiffon and silk.

Khan had previously worked in the entertainment industry and designed for short films like ‘Amma Meri’ and ‘Kaala’. ‘Amma Meri’ was screened in Tampere Film Festival, Finland.

Mohsina clarified that her creations available in the store presently are not bridal wear and their prices range from Rs 9,000 to Rs 13,000.

Earlier, Temsusenla Kichu, owner of Fusion Store said that with a mixture of brands from local entrepreneurs in Nagaland, she hoped this addition will be a success for the buyers who have been loyal for the last five years.

With the three new brands now on its stands, Fusion Store houses products of more than 20 entrepreneurs from Nagaland.
