Kohima District Teachers’ Award 2018 ceremony held

Sixteen teachers under Kohima district have been conferred with the prestigious Kohima District Teachers’ Award 2018 at an award ceremony held here today at Kohima DC’s Conference Hall.  

Gracing the award ceremony as the special guest, V. Meyase, retired director, school education Nagaland, maintained that education is the most important tool to change the world. In this, he called upon the teachers to be very systematic in their approach to change the world for good.  

He encouraged the teachers to be more professional in their teaching methods as the education system is becoming very complex with the advancement in information and technology. He urged the teachers to be influential teachers and lead the students in the right way. Meyase said that teachers have to be very careful while trying to bring up the young boys and girls to be respectable, uncorruptable and honesty in the society. He said the responsibility being shouldered by teachers today is very complex and difficult task, adding that it require the highest sacrifice much more than before. Meyase said that children are to be trained and bring them up with greatest care, understanding and love.  

Further, he urged upon the teachers to give their best and continue to play an important role in nation building.  

Exhorting the teachers, Kohima deputy commissioner Rajesh Soundararajan stated that the efforts made by the teachers are often overlooked but are vital in shaping the future of the students. He further encouraged the teachers to retrospect and introspect their profession seriously to make it palatable for the students.  

Kohima DEO Piholi Swunetho said that the Award Ceremony was organized to honour the Teachers for their sacrifices, dedication and commitment in molding the students and their unflinching contribution to the society and humanity as a whole.  

Tseminyu SDEO Ramdi Thou and Chiephobozou SDEO Sekhonülü Thingo also spoke on the occasion.  

The occasion also witnessed prize distribution on various competitions on Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC).  

Dr. Debasish Roy, central observer for Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign highlighted the ongoing activities of the campaign in Nagaland.  

Students of Khedi Baptist Higher Secondary School Kohima presented special number while Ethel Kemp from GMS Tseminyu rendered “A Tribute to Teachers.” The award ceremony was chaired by Kohima ADEO Kepelhouzo Terhüja.
