Kohima Police issues traffic advisory for Hornbill Festival

Kohima, November 29 (MExN): In view of the Hornbill Festival starting December 1 at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama as well as events spread across various locations within Kohima till December 10, the Kohima Police has issued traffic advisory for smooth vehicular movement.

Restrictions 

No heavy vehicles will be allowed to enter Kohima Municipal area from 7AM to 10PM from December 1-10 and all heavy vehicles will be stopped at Dzüdza Bridge and Khuzama Police check gate. 

Loading or unloading within Kohima Municipal area must be completed before 7AM, the advisory informed. 

Parking facilities will be available at the two new Multi-Level car parking, located at Old NST and Old Medical Directorate respectively.  

Regulations for Night Carnival

Meanwhile, to facilitate Kohima Night Carnival, vehicular restrictions will be enforced in the certain locations from 4PM to 9 PM daily till December 10. 

The road stretch from Y-Junction Phoolbari to Razhü Point will be restricted for vehicular traffic and all light moving vehicles will be diverted from Y-Junction to Razhü Point via Local Ground (Khuochiezie). 

Heavy public utility vehicles proceeding towards high school area will be diverted from TCP gate and allowed to take the alternate road from NHAK junction or T-Khel model village road. 

There will be no-entry for vehicular traffic from New Market road to New NST, the advisory said. 

City buses will be diverted as per the public notice issued by DC Kohima on November 28, it added. 

Vehicle owners are advised to keep their contact numbers pasted on the windshield both at Kisama and at the venue of the night carnival.

Alternate routes to Kisama & IG Stadium

The advisory also informed that alternate route for vehicles coming from Dimapur or Chümoukedima towards the venue to the Hornbill Festival Kisama is available via Old KMC check gate – Jotsoma - Nagaland College of Music and Fine Arts - Forest colony – BSNL exchange – Cathedral – Aradura Inn - Phesama - Kisama. 

Direction boards at appropriate locations have been installed to guide travelers, it said. 

Alternate route for vehicles coming from Dimapur/Chümoukedima and proceeding to Tseminyu, Wokha, Mokokchung and beyond and secretariat area are advised to take the newly constructed T- Khel model village road till IG stadium, it added. 

Vehicles causing obstruction to free flow of traffic (parking in No Parking Zone or  beyond line white solid line marked on both side of the road) along the National Highway towards Kisama and Kohima Municipal area would be towed without further warning as per the provision of section 127 Motor Vehicles Act, the advisory cautioned.

Vehicle owners shall be responsible for all towing costs and shall also be penalised under section 201 Motor Vehicles Act, it added.  

In the advisory issued by its PRO, the Kohima Police further urged cooperation of everyone to ensure smooth functioning vehicular traffic.
