Moapa Valley Justice Court Report (February 13, 2019)

Criminal court was held on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 with Judge Gregor Mills presiding. All cases listed in the order called.

Francisco Delatorre-Perez- Charges: DUI. Defendant entered no contest plea on the charge. Received 90 day jail sentence suspended if conditions met including attending DUI school, complete a Victim Impact Panel and fines totalling $688. Continued for Status Check to 4/10/2019.

Brandon Bushhead- Charges: Grand Larceny, Auto; DUI. Defendant waived right to preliminary hearing in Grand Larceny charge and the matter was bound over to District Court in Las Vegas. A no contest plea was entered on the DUI charge. Defendant received six month jail sentence with two days mandatory jail time. The rest suspended if all conditions met including attending DUI school, complete a Victim Impact Panel, fines totalling $688 and stay out of trouble. Continued for status check on 3/13/2019.

Oscar Ariano- Status Check on Charges: DUI. Defendant had completed all conditions. Still required to stay out of trouble for one year. Final status check set for 10/23/2019.

Michael Pace- Charges: Loitering on Private Property; Jaywalking. Defendant appeared in custody. He had received two minor traffic violations in August 2018 but had failed to appear in court. A bench warrant was issued in the matters. Defendent was eventually arrested and held for five days in custody. Defendant entered a guilty plea on charges, was given credit for time served and released.

Justin Wheat- Charges: 2 counts Felony Burglary; Conspiracy to Commit Burglary; False statement for Obstruction of Police Officer. Defendant was in custody but had refused transport for the court hearing. Judge continued matter to 3/13/2019 and ordered Defendant to appear, even if he must be compelled to do so.

Dennis Lovelady- Charges: Burglary; Conspiracy to Commit Burglary. Defendant appeared in custody. Public Defender appointed in the case. Defense asked that he be released on his own recognizance while criminal proceedings are ongoing saying that he does not present a flight risk. Judge released defendant on house arrest and continued the matter to 2/13/2019.

Edwin Medina- Charges: Child Abuse/Neglect; Domestic Battery. Defendant appeared in custody. Public Defender appointed to represent. Defense requested release from custody. State pointed out that the Defendant is undocumented and therefore represents a flight risk. Judge ruled to keep Defendant in custody. Continued to 2/13/2019.

Kory Paul- Charges: Domestic Battery. Defendant appeared in custody where he had been since 1/1/2019. Original charges had occurred in 2016. Defendant had been given a 90 day suspended jail sentence to complete conditions. No conditions had been completed and repeated failures to appear in court had resulted in Bench Warrants being issued. Judge imposed the full sentence plus 25 days for Contempt of Court. A total of 115 days in jail with credit for time already served.

Chase Faris- Charges: Domestic Battery. Defendant appeared in custody where he had been since 1/1/2019. Public Defender appointed to the case. Defense asked that he be released on his own recognizance while criminal proceedings are ongoing. State cautioned the Defendant represents a flight risk. Judge ruled to keep in custody. Continued to 2/13/2019.

Keith Griffin- Status Check Charges: Trespass; Possession of Stolen Property. Defendant had not completed community service requirement. Continued to 3/13/2019 to complete.

Kevin Uri- Charges: DUI. Defendant pled no contest to charges. Received 90 day jail sentence with 2 additional days mandatory. Defendant had already served 2 days. The remainder of jail time held in abeyance to complete conditions including $688 fine, DUI school, Victim Impact Panel. Status check set for 4/24.

Cody McGrew- Charges: Discharge Firearm at Occupied Structure; Domestic Battery; three counts of Assult with Use of Deadly Weapon. Defendant not present in court, but court had received message from defense attorney. Request to enter Not Guilty plea and set the matter for Preliminary Hearing. Matter continued to 3/13/2019.

Aaron Lee Davidson- Charges: Assault with Deadly Weapon. Matter continued to Feb. 27, 2019 for status check.

Victor Kay Leavitt- Charges: Lewd and Lascivious Conduct. State was not seeking jail time. Defendant pled guilty to charge. Received 90 day jail sentence held in abeyance to complete conditions including $350 fine, AIDS awareness class, and stay out of trouble for 6 months. Status check set for 6/5/2019.

James Clark – Charges: Domestic Battery. Pled no contest to the charge. Received 90 day jail sentence held in abeyance to complete conditions including $385 fine, 6 months of Domestic Violence counseling and stay out of trouble. If all conditions met, charge will be reduced to Simple Battery. Status check set for 4/24/2019.

Jerome Serrano- Status Check on Charges: DUI. All conditions met. Continued for stay out of trouble. Status check set for 8/29/2019

Travis Causey- Status Check on Charges: DUI. Most conditions met. Still some community service left. Also must serve six mandatory days in jail. Status check for 4/24/2019.

Brenda Davis- Status Check on Charges: Domestic Battery. All conditions met. Case dismissed.

Cameron Marshall- Status Check on Charges: Burglary. Still has portion of community service to complete. Other conditions met. Status check set for 2/27/2019.

John Marshall- Status Check on Charges: DUI; Controlled Substance Possession. Defendant completed Victim Impact Panel and in the process of completing DUI counseling. Status Check set for 4/24/2019.

Amanda Reber- Status Check on Charges: Domestic Battery. Defendant had not completed Community Service or Counseling. Status check set for 3/27/2019.

Amanda Dwelley- Status Check on Charges: Domestic Battery. Had not completed counseling. Status check set for 2/27/2019.

Antonio Covarrubias- Status Check on Charges: Drug Possession; DUI. Had completed all conditions. Final status check set for 8/28/2019.

Jeremy Comparoni- Status Check on Charges: Violate Restraining Order; Petit Larceny; Theft. Had been placed on Fresh Start program to stay out of the jurisdiction for period of three years. But in his absence, Defendant had not fulfilled requirement to pay restitution. No communication from Defendant on the matter. Status check set for 2/27/2019.

James Reeves- Status Check on Charges: Domestic Violence. Had been placed on Fresh Start program to stay out of the jurisdiction for period of three years. Three years is completed. Case closed.

Tod Jones- Status Check on Charges: DUI. All conditions met. Case closed.

Brock Williams- Status Check on Charges: Domestic Battery. All conditions met. Case closed.

  1. Understanding that everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty – I’m so glad to see the Moapa Valley Justice Court Report back in the progress and hope that it’ll be a regular article. I think inthe times we didn’t have this the community was left less informed on the goings on of our local justice system.
