The Mesquite Chamber of Commerce welcomed McDonalds restaurant to its new location during a ribbon cutting ceremony held Thursday June 27. The new restaurant is located across from the Sinclair gas station on Falcon Ridge Parkway in Mesquite.

In traditional chamber of commerce fashion, Chamber President and CEO Carol Kolson welcomed attendees of the members-only event.

“Welcome to the ribbon cutting grand opening of McDonalds,” Kolson said. “We’re really, really excited to be here today. We think this is a fabulous location and we know that our community and all of the tourists that come through here are going to be really excited about this.”

Following Kolson, Mesquite Mayor Al Litman addressed the crowd.
“Carol took the words out of my mouth on location,” Litman said.

The mayor added that location is a key component for any successful business. And it was especially true of this newly built restaurant facility.
“ I think we have to expand the parking lot already,” Litman said. “This is going to be one busy place. It’s a beautiful McDonald’s. It is going to be a great success in our city.”
Restaurant owner Mark Watson told attendees that this is an exciting time for both McDonald’s and for the city of Mesquite.

“We’re hoping that this will be a new destination and a stop for everyone on the way,” Watson said. “Both for those of you who live here in the city and for all of those tourists coming through. I’m just grateful for all of you.”.

Following the celebratory cutting of the red ribbon, event participants enjoyed a courtesy meal and a private tour of the new facility that is now open for business.

  1. I believe Mesquite has enough Mexican fast food and Thai restaurants for it’s size. Plenty of gas stations to serve the population. What we lack are actual stores we can shop in. Target, Kohl’s, H&M. I know Macy’s, Nordstrom and the like are out of the question as I’m sure Costco is. A deal must have been signed with Walmart to guarantee no competition is my guess. The City Council must do more to diversify our shopping choices. We have almost nothing. How many nail salons are here? Hair salons? Does anyone keep track? Try to keep it interesting instead of a hodge podge? I hear of good places who want in and you say no. And you say yes to the same old same old.
