Rumors of California rioters heading to Reno deemed false by Reno Police

RENO, Nev. (News 4-Fox 11) — Monday evening, the Reno Police Department said they were made aware of an ongoing incident in Oakland, Calfornia.

Officers said they received concerns that rioters who had dispersed and fragmented into small groups, were heading to Reno.

RPD decided to take this as precautionary information after personnel from Northern Nevada Regional Intelligence Center (NNRIC) spoke with authorities in California. This information was ultimately determined to be unfounded.

The Reno Police Department would like to assure the public that safeguards are in place to address potential occurrences similar to what occurred over the weekend in downtown Reno.
