Supposed victim arrested in kidnapping and robbery investigation in Carson City

Carson City Sheriff’s Office Detectives and Special Enforcement Team have arrested the supposed victim in an ongoing kidnapping and robbery investigation.

According to the Sheriff's office, deputies responded to a report of a battery with a deadly weapon call on November 25 at around 2 a.m. near the water tower area of Goni Road.

Deputies took a report on the incident and Detectives continued the investigation. The investigation revealed the victim Dillion Grimes, was selling stolen guns and when the sale of the stolen weapons did not go as planned, Grimes was battered and the weapons taken by two male suspects.

Sparks Police Detectives located Grimes on Friday and took him into custody on charges related to their investigations.

Detectives identified Michael Segna and Mauricio Gomez as the suspects.

During their interviews, Sheriff say Grimes admitted he was selling stolen guns in the Goni Canyon area of North Carson City when Michael Segna and Mauricio Gomez of Carson battered him and then took the guns.

Carson City Detectives had already suspected Dillon Grimes was linked to a series of over 20 vehicle burglaries that occurred in Carson City during the Thanksgiving week. All of the burglaries in Carson occurred in the downtown area of 7th, 8th, Nevada, and Curry Streets.

Law enforncement found Michael Segna on November 27 near the water tower in Voltaire Canyon of Carson City. He was arrested on a warrant related to the Battery with a Deadly Weapon incident and a Douglas County Warrant. Further investigation by Detectives revealed a female with Segna during the arrest was being held against her will and had been battered.

On November 28 at around 8 p.m. the first search warrant was conducted in the 1800 block of East William Street at a Tattoo business. Mauricio Gomez was found at that location along with the owner of the Tattoo business, Christopher Powell. Powell was arrested after the search of the business was completed, according to Carson City Sheriff’s Office.

The second search warrant was in the 600 block of Hot Springs today, November 29. Richard Rios was arrested at the location.

Dillon Grimes is currently in custody at the Washoe County Detention Facility on numerous charges to include Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property, Prohibited Person in Possession of a Gun, and Unauthorized Use of Credit Card.

Suspects charges are:

  • Michael Segna 21 year old Carson City resident Charges: Kidnapping, Domestic Battery, Robbery, Battery with Deadly Weapon, Conspiracy to commit Robbery.
  • Mauricio Gomez 26 year old Carson City resident Charges: Robbery, Battery with Deadly Weapon, Conspiracy to commit Robbery, Possession of Controlled Substance, and Possession of Controlled Substance.
  • Christopher Powell 37 year old Sparks resident Charges: Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Gun by Prohibited Person, Harboring and Aiding Fugitive, Possession Drug Paraphernalia.
  • Richard Rios 32 year old Carson City resident Charges: Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • Dillon Grimes 28 year old Charges: Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property, Prohibited Person in Possession of a Gun, and Unauthorized Use of Credit Card

The investigation is active and still on going with additional arrests expected.
