SPARKS, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — Returning for its third year, the Sierra Nevada Lavender and Honey Festival is taking place in both Reno and Sparks this weekend.
Expanding the festivities to two days this year, Saturday will focus on satellite events at local businesses, while Sunday will host the annual festival.
On Saturday morning, Lotions N Potions will host a lavender lotions workshop at Creative Gardens Nursery.
Saturday afternoon, neighboring wineries Nevada Sunset Winery and Black Rabbit Meads will host Tours & Tastings with complimentary tastings and tours along with a history of mead, also known as honey wine, one of the world’s most ancient alcoholic beverages.
On Sunday, the original festival returns to downtown Sparks, with more than 100 vendors, event-themed food and drink, live music, a children’s area, free painting classes, and a signature beer from Great Basin Brewing Company.
Attendees will find lavender ice cream, cotton candy, cheese, bread, pastries, wine, and specialty drinks, along with lavender nursery plants and lots of honey.
The festival takes place on Sunday, June 23 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
