SALEM, Ore. — All paving operations on Interstate 5 between Woodburn and Salem will be halted from August 23 to September 3 to accommodate the many State Fair goers who will be using area roads during the event, Oregon Department of Transportation said.

Nighttime paving and lane closures will resume on Tuesday, September 3.

The paving of northbound and southbound lanes between the interchanges at Brooklake Road and Chemawa Road remain, and should be completed by the end of September.

During the work in this section of the project, travelers can expect nighttime lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. weekdays from Sunday night to Friday morning.

Travelers can expect delays up to 30 minutes.

Paving the 12 mile section of I-5 between Woodburn and Salem is now almost 75 percent complete.

The project also includes the installation of rumble strips and permanent striping once paving is finished.

The project is scheduled for completion in October.
