Sheriff: Man found dead in Idanha house fire

IDANHA, Ore. -- A man was found dead inside a home that burned in a fire Friday night in Linn County, authorities said.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a house fire at 205 Church Street in Idanha just before midnight Friday (July 26, 2019).

The caller described an older single-wide mobile home was on fire and the caller suspected the homeowner was still inside.

Fire personnel from the Idanha Fire Department arrived on scene at 12:03 a.m. and the Gates Fire Department responded to assist.

Upon searching the interior of the home, a man's body found in the living room located on the east end of the residence.

Based on preliminary investigation, it appears this fire was non-criminal in nature, the sheriff's office said.

The name of the deceased is pending identification and next of kin notification.
