SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — A woman was held at knifepoint, as two people stole her car in Springfield last weekend. Since then, a GoFundMe page for the woman was set up to replace what was stolen.

Springfield police say a man and a woman stole Dyan McKelvy's car from the parking lot at the Shoppes at Gateway. She was waiting for her daughter.

“And he opened the door just as my lock popped. And I looked over at him, kind of dumbfounded. And he shoved a knife through and he said move over, I want your car,” said McKelvy.

And they weren't alone.

“I looked over and there was a girl in my passenger seat.”

It was 39-year-old Shelbee Casey, who is now in jail.

“I threw a tantrum. I started yelling and honking and just freaking out in every way, and finally he let me out.”

They got away and wrecked her car on I-5 freeway and were transported to the hospital with injuries. Casey was released, charged with robbery and is at the Lane County Jail. The man is still in the hospital and has not been charged yet.

One week later, McKelvy got a GoFundMe donation from a man she doesn't knowand a new car.

“People were trolling her, and my first impulse was, let's help her out. And then, people were making fun of it and this and that . And I kind of bought into it, which generated a lot of traffic, and then all of sudden there was a bunch of money for her,” said Chad Anderson, owner of Anderson Janitorial in Eugene.

He organized the GoFundMe and with the work he’s been doing with BMW of Eugene, he was able to get a great deal on getting McKelvy a car, free of cost.

“It feels good when chad reached out to me. I actually haven't heard, but i jumped online really quick and saw the stories and stuff, and sounded like a pretty scary ordeal,” said Matt Logue, Sales Manager with BMW of Eugene.

And now a feel-good ending. The dark has transitioned to light so unexpectedly for a woman who is still healing from a traumatic experience.

“She had a random person do a horrible thing. And a random person does a nice thing. It's the yin and the yang combining,” said Anderson.

McKelvy's GoFundMe is still active, of which you can donate at here.
