Miss Montana's busy summer continues. Preparations are underway to fly the restored DC-3 plane to Wisconsin for a major air show.

The EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is billed as the world’s greatest aviation celebration.

Eric Komberec of the Miss Montana project says the event draws around 600,000 people. It runs from July 22 to 28.

Miss Montana and crew will depart for Wisconsin this Saturday afternoon from Missoula.

The plane recently returned from a trip to France to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

It will also take part in the 70th anniversary of a Montana tragedy.

Miss Montana is the same plane that flew 12 smokejumpers to a fire in Mann Gulch near Helena. The smokejumpers and a fire guard died in that fire.

Miss Montana will fly over or past Mann Gulch Aug. 5 and drop jumpers or ribbons in honor of those who died.
