Another member of the Nevada basketball staff from last season has landed a full-time assistant job.

This time it is Brandon Chambers, who was the lone holdover with the Wolf Pack after Eric Musselman left for Arkansas and Steve Alford was hired to replace him. Chambers was retained in the same position, the program's director of basketball operations. But he has since accepted an assistant job at Texas Southern, whose head coach Johnny Jones spent one season on Musselman's staff as associate head coach in 2017-18. The move was announced by Texas Southern on Monday.

Chambers spent three seasons at Nevada, including the final two as the team's director of operations. The Wolf Pack won three Mountain West regular-season titles with Chambers on staff and played in three NCAA Tournaments, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2018. A full-time assistant position is an upgrade from the director of basketball operations as they're allowed to coach during practice and recruit off campus, two things prohibited for a director of basketball operations.

Chambers came to Nevada from Paul VI High School located in Fairfax, Va. where he helped guide the team to a 20-14 record and 10-8 mark in the Washington Capital Athletic Conference as an assistant basketball coach. The Panthers earned a spot in the WCAC playoffs. For two seasons, 2013-15, he worked as an assistant coach at Marymount University in Arlington, Va. In his first season the Saints improved nine wins from seven to 16. The squad finished the year 16-12 overall and 7-9 in the Capital Athletic Conference. In year two the team went 19-7 (13-5 CAC) to set the school record for wins in a season.

Chambers spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa. The team captured the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship with a 21-7 record and earned a trip to the NCAA III tournament his first season. In year two, the squad posted a 13-13 record and reached the MAC Freedom semifinals. He attended VCU and was a manager working with the men’s basketball team. The 2010 squad won the College Basketball Invitational and finished the year 27-9. The next season, while working as a student assistant coach, the Rams advanced to the Final Four.

Nevada's athletic trainer, Ron Cooper, who spent the last two seasons in Reno, also recently got a job at North Carolina State.
