Wanted man tells cops ‘I was just acting stupid’ before arrest
Anyone who is wanted on outstanding warrants probably shouldn’t yell out of a moving car at police officers.
Wayne police say that two officers were patrolling a parking lot on Ratzer Road near Route 23 on April 30 when the passenger of a 2008 white Toyota began screaming out of the window as the car drive passed “as if in need of assistance.”
Police say that the officers pulled the vehicle over and immediately smelled burnt marijuana. When the officers questioned the passenger, identified as 28-year-old Paterson resident Markel Morris, about why he was screaming, he allegedly told police “I was just acting stupid.”
Police say that Morris has several outstanding warrants in New Jersey and is also wanted in Florida.
Morris was arrested for the outstanding warrants and also charged with possession of marijuana. He is being held at the Passaic County Jail.
The driver of the Toyota was released without incident.
