Victim in 2-car crash at Washington & Eastern identified, other driver faces DUI charge

SUNDAY UPDATE | The man killed in the crash has been identified as 42-year-old Las Vegas resident Kelvin Flowers.

The man driving the 2003 Lincoln, 53-year-old Stacey Frierson of Las Vegas, suffered minor injuries. He faces a DUI charge.

ORIGINAL | The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal crash near Washington Avenue and Eastern Avenue.

The crash took place just after 4 a.m., Saturday morning.

According to detectives, a Silver 2003 Lincoln Continental was traveling southbound Eastern at Washington. A blue 2000 Lincoln Continental was traveling westbound Washington at Eastern. The two cars collided in the intersection sending the vehicles in a southwest direction. Both vehicles then collided with a brick wall.

The driver of the blue Lincoln died at the scene.

The driver of the silver Lincoln was transported to UMC for head injuries.

At this time, impairment was believed to be a factor in the collision and further testing is being conducted by LVMPD while at UMC.

This collision marks the 131st fatal collision in LVMPD jurisdiction for 2018.
