Boxing legend Leon Spinks has been hospitalized in Las Vegas.

His wife took to social media, asking for prayers for the former heavyweight champion.

TMZ is reporting the boxer is in dire condition.

"Anybody that's into boxing knows who Leon Spinks is," said John Manard Roberts, a trainer at Johnny Tocco's Boxing Gym.

Roberts has been a trainer at Johnny Tocco's Boxing Gym in Las Vegas for 20 years. He says Spinks would sometimes stop by the gym and socialize.

"He came in and said hey to everybody. And he watched some of the guys sparring," Roberts said.

Spinks was inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame back in 2017.

One of his greatest victories was beating Muhammad Ali in 1978. It's still considered one of the greatest upsets in boxing history.

"He came out of nowhere. He had like 8 or 9 pro fights, and he fought the greatest, and the greatest took him too lightly, and he beat them up, he beat him good, and it made Ali wake up. Ali came back 9-months later, and took it back," Manard explained.

Spink's family isn't saying why he's in the hospital, but we do know he has battled serious medical conditions and has had several surgeries in the past.

Now, the boxing community is hoping for the best.

His family hasn’t said why or where he is hospitalized at this time.
