The case of a body found in the desert south of Las Vegas earlier this month has been ruled a homicide, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Police said officers responded on Thursday, July 4, to a report of a burning body on BLM land about one mile east of the 7 Magic Mountains site.

Officers and firefighters arrived and determined the remains were human, and homicide detectives responded to the scene.

The coroner's office identified the victim as 29-year-old Natelie Carbajal of Las Vegas and said she died from a gunshot wound to the head.

No other details on the case have been released.
