Installation of a translucent roof for the $2 billion football stadium being built in Las Vegas for the Raiders is months behind schedule, but officials say it should be ready by the start of next season.

Team and construction officials provided an update Thursday to the stadium oversight panel about the 65,000-seat Allegiant Stadium.

Board members were told several times that Allegiant Stadium is on schedule and on budget.

They also learned more about what's become a widely reported problem that's delaying the completion of the dome, but not the stadium.

When the dome is finished, it will be held up by a cable net system.

Operations chief Don Webb stated that as that netting was being raised, a handful of bolts became overstressed and snapped.

Webb says those bolts were replaced, along with every other bolt used in that cable net system out of an overabundance of caution.

The roof had been scheduled for completion last fall. Installation is now expected in May.

Officials say the stadium is still on track to open July 31, in time to host its first event Aug. 16.

Construction began in September 2017. The Raiders played their last game in Oakland last month.
