Driver killed in crash with semi near Cheyenne, I-15 in North Las Vegas

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (KSNV) — A driver is dead after crashing into a semi-truck Friday morning on Cheyenne Avenue near Interstate 15, according to North Las Vegas Police.

Police and Nevada Highway Patrol could be seen blocking lanes and diverting traffic on the Cheyenne Avenue overpass.

The crash was reported just after 7 a.m., according to Officer Eric Leavitt. Investigators believe a four-door sedan ran a red light and struck the semi.

The driver of the sedan was killed, Leavitt said, while the driver of the semi did not report any injuries. No other vehicles were involved, and nobody else was in the sedan at the time of the crash.

The intersection of Cheyenne and Losee Road is expected to remain closed until noon Friday for the investigation.
