The historic mining town of Goodsprings is home to the 1913 Pioneer Saloon and Goodsprings School House, the oldest school in the County. On Saturday, it welcomed a new amenity - a hiking trail.

The 2.2 mile trail was welcomed Sunday by residents, artists, historians, looking to take in the natural beauty. County Commissioner Justin Jones tells us what it took to bring the trail to life.

"This trail is fantastic," said Commissioner Justin Jones. "They’ve been waiting years now. Not just Goodsprings, but the entire community.

Tom Sheckells, a town board member, says that the trail will help show the history of the region. The point, he says is "Immersing yourself into wild."

He hopes that it will help the community with "seeing where we came from, seeing where we’re going."

Part of the history lesson can be taken in along a footbridge, where you’ll find a replica of the train that once carried ore from Goodsprings to Jean.
