LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Nevada's high school students graduated in 2019 at a rate of about 84.1%, a mark that state officials say is the highest graduation rate ever.
That figure is up from the 83.2% graduation rate posted in the class of 2018, which was the highest rate ever at the time.
Clark County School District schools posted a graduation rate of 85.8% for 2019, up from about 83.2% in 2017, according to figures from the state's Department of Education.
The State Public Charter School Authority posted the biggest two-year gain in Nevada, with the graduation rate jumping from about 65.3% in 2017 to about 77.8% this year.
"Our mission is to improve student achievement and educator effectiveness and this continued increase in our graduation rate demonstrates our collective progress as a statewide education system," state Superintendent Jhone Ebert said in a press release.
In terms of highest graduation rate, Pershing, Eureka and Douglas counties led all public school districts at 94.5%, 93.3% and 91.3%, respectively.
