It’s about to heat up in Las Vegas, and we’re not talking about the weather.

The International Flipper Pinball Association announced the seventh annual State Championship Series finale, bringing together the world’s best pinball players for a state-by-state shootout.

The action starts Saturday, Jan. 18, in Las Vegas at Player1 Video Game Bar at 2797 Maryland Parkway, where folks ranked among the top 16 players will compete for their shot at more than $95,000 in cash and prizes.

According to the IFPA Nevada State Representative Adam Barajas, most of the players are Las Vegas locals with a few traveling from out of town. This includes some players from Reno, showing how popular pinball has become in Nevada.

Those interested in checking out the competition, the tournament begins Saturday at 1:00 p.m. after a one-hour practice.

The tournament is expected to run most of the day and is only one part of a continent-wide marathon of over 1000 of North America's best players.

Pinball has taken flight in the valley in recent years, especially with the Pinball Hall of Fame, which got approval last year to open a location on The Strip.
